Aplix to License and Distribute Hybrid's Embedded 3D Graphics Technology.

HELSINKI, Finland & TOKYO, Japan -- Aplix integrates Hybrid Graphics's embedded 3D graphics technology into its JBlend Java platform for mobile devices

Hybrid Graphics and Aplix Corporation (TSE: 3727) today announced a technology partnership enabling the integration of Hybrid's 3D graphics technology for J2ME to Aplix's JBlend platform for mobile devices.

The technology licensed and distributed by Aplix provides an all-inclusive interface for bringing graphics capabilities to embedded devices. It consists of Hybrid's implementations of embedded 3D graphics standards M3G (JSR 184), OpenGL ES and JSR 239 as well as 2D vector graphics standards OpenVG, SVG and JSR 226, all important pieces of a complete roadmap solution.

The open standard solution is extremely developer friendly, ensuring that licensees of Aplix's graphics-enhanced JBlend platform will be able to get high-quality content from a large number of developers. The technology can be used in any application that benefits from 3D graphics, from games to navigation and instrumentation displays.

3D graphics capabilities are already a common feature in Japanese mobile phones with first hardware-accelerated devices on the market since last year. The fast development of the Japanese content market increases demand for open graphics standards to become available and work alongside the existing proprietary 3D solutions. In its role as the most important provider of Java platforms in the Japanese market and a major provider in other markets, Aplix is answering this demand by making Hybrid's implementations of OpenGL ES and M3G available with the JBlend platform. Open and easy-to-approach content markets will ensure diversity among content developers and bring rich and appealing content within reach of consumers.
