For the three months ended December 31, 2003, the Company incurred a net loss attributable to common stockholders of $6.6 million, or $.23 per share, basic and diluted, compared with a net loss attributable to common stockholders of $8.7 million, or $.40 per share, basic and diluted, for the same period in 2002. For the year ended December 31, 2003, Aphton incurred a net loss attributable to common stockholders of $26.3 million, or $1.02 per share, basic and diluted, compared with a net loss attributable to common stockholders of $40.0 million, or $1.93 per share, basic and diluted, for the same period in 2002. Cash and current investments equaled $19.2 on December 31, 2003. In March 2004, the company increased its cash, cash equivalents and short-term investments balance by completing a public offering of its common stock, generating net proceeds Net Proceeds

Total research and development expenses for the three months and year ended December 31, 2003, were $5.3 million and $21.9 million, respectively, compared with $8.7 million and $37.7 million for the same periods in 2002.
