) today announced the first product in its family of software tools for developing, managing and maintaining enterprise-wide applications built upon IBM's multi-platform msesaging and queuing product family, MQSeries.

Apertus' first MQSeries application solution is a centralized administrative management system that will provide SNMP-based systems management capability for new and current users of distributed, heterogeneous MQSeries networks. The systems management product uses a Graphical User Interface graphical user interface (GUI)

It will provide configuration, operations, monitoring, and fault management and reporting -- all from a central point.

IBM's product lines include the S/390 mainframes (zSeries), AS/400 midrange business systems (iSeries), RS/6000 workstations and servers (pSeries), Intel-based servers (xSeries)  Hursley. "Apertus' experience with MQSeries technology makes them a natural candidate for providing complementary products for the MQSeries networks."

Les Yeamans, General Manager of Apertus' Messaging Group, noted, "IBM's MQSeries is the leading solution for multi-platform messaging. Use of our systems management product will significantly reduce the cost of ownership for customers planning to roll out MQSeries networks. Apertus' MQSeries systems management product will be available in the second quarter of calendar-year 1995. It is being developed to support NetView/6000, Windows NT (Windows New Technology) A 32-bit operating system from Microsoft for Intel x86 CPUs. NT is the core technology in Windows 2000 and Windows XP (see Windows). Available in separate client and server versions, it includes built-in networking and preemptive multitasking. , Windows 3.11, and HP/OpenView.
