, Inc., the leading provider of research and resource management solutions, has announced a strategic alliance in support of The Research Place(TM), a web-enabled research tool for commercial researchers in the life sciences.

The Research Place(TM) grew out of an earlier collaboration between Apelon and LGA with the National Cancer Institute linking all federally funded cancer researchers to a single platform to facilitate information exchange and therapeutic innovations. The project was so successful that LGA decided to offer a similar common venue to life science professionals researching commercial applications.

"We are pleased that Apelon's technology will be used to power the collaborations and advances of life science professionals," said Apelon's President Stephen Coady. "LGA is providing the single platform and Apelon the common terminology so that various disciples may better talk to and learn from each other."

Apelon's server technology and clinical knowledge base provide the terminology foundation for The Research Place(TM). The Apelon knowledge base is an integration of the most popular healthcare vocabularies, structured on underlying clinical concepts represented rather than explicit names.
