and an Apartment Cleaning,

Plus $2,000 To Spend on auctions.com

College students are notorious for keeping less-than-clean apartments, but haven't yet received the recognition they deserve for the irresponsibility, laziness and apathy it takes to create a mess of appalling proportions. Until now.

National online apartment guide Apartments.com (www.apartments.com) has kicked off a search for the messiest college apartment in the U.S. with the first &uot;Apartments.com Messiest College Apartment Contest,&uot; which will award $10,000 for rent and a thorough apartment cleaning to the most blatant example of out-of-control clutter, neglect and filth. As a bonus, the grand-prize winner will also receive $2,000 in e-bucks to spend on auctions.com (www.auctions.com), the world's fastest-growing online auction network and sister site of Apartments.com.

Entries for the contest will be accepted between February 10 and March 19, and must include two to four color photos of the nominated apartment and an essay of up to 250 words answering the question: &uot; Why is your apartment the messiest college apartment in the U.S.?&uot; College students can enter online or print out a mail-in entry form at the contest web site, www.apartments.com/messycontest.htm. Contest rules and guidelines for entering can also be found at the contest web site.

Photos and essays from three finalists in the Apartments.com Messiest College Apartment Contest will be posted on www.apartments.com/messycontest.htm by April 3, when visitors can cast their vote for the apartment most deserving of the ignominious ig·no·min·i·ous
