Apartment industry loses two Association Executives.

Central Oklahoma is the geographical name for the central region of the state. It is also known by the Oklahoma Department of Tourism designation, Frontier Country.

), died Aug. 20, 2007, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was 67.

Herring began her tenure in the apartment industry in 1981 when she, her husband and three children moved from Texas to Oklahoma. She managed several apartment communities before serving as AACO's Association Executive. She was also a past Chairman of the National Executive Directors Association, a CAM instructor for 26 years and winner of NAA's National Association Executive of the Year award in 1998.

"Barbara was such a positive asset to our association," Robert Goldman, AACO Legal Advisor, said. "One of the greatest things about her was how she extended her family to include many friends. If she called you a friend, you were a friend for life."

Guin served as SAAA's Executive Director since 1999. He was a real estate developer and manager for 18 years, at one time managing 9,000 apartment homes and 1.5 million square feet of office space. He was also a past President of the SAM, a past Director of the Texas Apartment Association and he served on many NAA NAA

 committees and on the Association Executives Council. In 2004, he received NAA's PARAGON Award for Association Executive of the Year.

"I had no idea how many friends David had or how much he was loved until I sat in his chair," Rosemarie L.
