Increasing the Quality of Physical Power Verification for VIA

Apache Design Solutions, the technology leader in physical power integrity solutions for system-on-chip (SoC) designs, today announced that VIA Technologies has adopted RedHawk-SDL and NSPICE-PI as part of its production physical power flow. Apache's products were used for static and dynamic power analysis, as well as input/output simultaneous switching output (I/O SSO) verification of a PC chipset A set of chips that provides the interfaces between all of the PC's subsystems. It provides the buses and electronics to allow the CPU, memory and input/output devices to interact.  using TSMC's 150nm and 130nm processes, at VIA facilities in both Taiwan and Fremont, California For the unincorporated community in Yolo County, California, see .

Traditionally, VIA has relied on static IR-drop analysis for power integrity verification. But as their designs moved toward 150nm, 130nm and below, the increasing power density, lower operating voltage and higher clock frequencies made the static-only approach inadequate and risky, resulting in low yields and silicon respins. VIA turned to Apache for Dynamic Voltage Drop Noun 1. voltage drop - a decrease in voltage along a conductor through which current is flowing

"To accurately verify our advanced process designs, we require full-chip dynamic power verification that ensures the adequacy of our de-cap methodology, allowing us to avoid failures caused by on-chip transient and package RLC RLC Residual lung capacity  parasitics," said Alan Liaw, assistant vice president of VIA Technologies. "With RedHawk-SDL, we were able to identify issues that would have been missed by our traditional static-only flow."

"We are excited to be working with an innovative company like VIA on their new dynamic physical power flow," stated Andrew Yang, CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. "The rate of customers adopting RedHawk worldwide demonstrates the limitations of the 'golden' static IR-drop approach and the need for a dynamic solution. RedHawk-SDL's full-chip Vectorless Dynamic(TM) approach is the only silicon-proven solution available to identify and resolve dynamic hot spots."

About RedHawk

Apache's flagship RedHawk fills the critical missing link for physical power flows in 130nm, 90nm and 65nm system-on-chip (SoC) designs. RedHawk provides the only full-chip static and Vectorless Dynamic(TM) physical power solution that is capable of addressing dynamic power issues such as simultaneous switching outputs (SSO) for core, memory, clock and I/O, as well as the effects of on-chip inductance inductance, quantity that measures the electromagnetic induction of an electric circuit component; it is a property of the component itself rather than of the circuit as a whole. , package parasitics and decoupling capacitance.

RedHawk enables designers to examine the power and timing impact on a chip caused by physical implementation decisions made from the early design stage through final verification. RedHawk delivers full-chip analysis capabilities with transistor-level accuracy, and addresses verification issues associated with low-power techniques such as leakage current, power gating, multiple voltages and multiple thresholds.

About Apache Design Solutions

Apache is a provider of innovative next-generation physical power integrity software that accelerates the design process and guarantees the reliability of massive system-on-chip semiconductors operating at gigahertz frequencies. By providing tools for power, timing and system I/O integrity, Apache enables leading networking, wireless, communication, consumer and semiconductor companies to develop highly competitive and reliable products. Apache's physical power integrity products are used early in the sub-130 nanometer design process with minimal setup, delivering the highest standards of computational performance, capacity handling and integrity.
