(R) VM for FELIN Project

Aonix(R), a provider of complete safety- and mission-critical solutions, plays a significant role in the FELIN Project, an armament system that will optimize the communications, defence and strategic capabilities of foot soldiers in the field. The FELIN system, a French acronym translated as Foot Soldier with Integrated Equipment and Connections, uses Aonix PERC virtual machine as a run-time environment for parts of the application written in Java language requiring high reliability and determinism.

The FELIN system includes a complete armament system focused on the foot soldier that will significantly improve the foot soldiers' capability and reactivity in the field. With FELIN, the soldier will be able to carry out mission objectives at day or night. Operating within a larger communications network, the infantry will be able to transmit data and video images in addition to communicating via radiotelegraphy. Ballistic protection of the soldiers will be optimized with specific protection against NBC NBC

"Our participation in the FELIN project confirms our leadership position in the embedded real-time Java language community," said Jacques Brygier, VP of Marketing at Aonix. "We are honored to have been chosen as a key supplier for this important project."

The Direction Generale de l'Armement (the French Defense Department) initiated the FELIN project in March 2004. At that time, the Integrated Program Management team notified industrial firm SAGEM that they had been chosen for development, industrialization industrialization
