Aonix ObjectAda Real-Time for Tornado V7.1.1 Release Highlighted by Significant Tools and Performance Improvements.

SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 3, 1998--Aonix, a leading provider of real-time products and software tools, has announced the release of ObjectAda Real-Time version 7.1.1 supporting Wind River Systems' Tornado development environment and VxWorks real-time operating system (operating system) Real-Time Operating System - (RTOS) Any operating system where interrupts are guaranteed to be handled within a certain specified maximum time, thereby making it suitable for control of hardware in embedded systems and other time-critical applications. .

ObjectAda Real-Time's integration with Tornado provides an easy-to-use environment for Ada software engineers plus access to Tornado features, tools and target connectivity for PowerPC-based application development hosted from Windows, Solaris, and HP-UX HP's version of Unix that runs on its 9000 family. It is based on SVID and incorporates features from BSD Unix along with several HP innovations.

 environments.

"As a charter member of our WindLink partner program, Aonix is a valuable and much appreciated contributor," said Tracy Butler, director of strategic programs Wind River Systems. "The product improvements in ObjectAda Real-Time for Tornado v7.1.1 are an indication of our mutual communication and support."

ObjectAda's runtime maps each task onto a VxWorks thread and is designed for fully deterministic 1. (probability) deterministic - Describes a system whose time evolution can be predicted exactly.

2. (algorithm) deterministic - Describes an algorithm in which the correct next step depends only on the current state.
, real-time, multi-tasking application development. As the overhead and management for these types of operations are critical in real-time development, Aonix has focused on boosting application performance at runtime where it is critical. Current v7.1.1benchmarks have improved by a factor of 4x over the previous release of Aonix's Tornado product line.

"Feedback from our customers on the new release of ObjectAda Real-Time is very positive," said Joe Colloca, product marketing manager for Aonix. "Developers can continue to use ObjectAda Real-Time for Tornado in a very straight-forward manner and benefit from the enhanced integration, Tornado support, and most importantly Adv. 1. most importantly - above and beyond all other consideration; "above all, you must be independent"
above all, most especially
the ease of use we've built in."

ObjectAda Real-Time v7.1.1 provides significant debugging (programming) debugging - The process of attempting to determine the cause of the symptoms of malfunctions in a program or other system. These symptoms may be detected during testing or use by real users.  tool improvements centered around the source debugger Software that helps a programmer debug a program by stopping at certain breakpoints and displaying various programming elements. The programmer can step through source code statements one at a time while the corresponding machine instructions are being executed.  with expanded support for elaboration-code debugging, as well as full exceptions support, tasking support, and a utility to support Wind River's WindView task analysis tool allowing long task name display.

ObjectAda Real-Time's runtime performance has been dramatically increased through a number of runtime optimizations. Additional performance-boosting PowerPC compiler optimizations Compiler optimization is the process of tuning the output of a compiler to minimize some attribute (or maximize the efficiency) of an executable program. The most common requirement is to minimize the time taken to execute a program; a less common one is to minimize the amount of  include: real-number manipulations, range tracking, constant propagation, constant folding (compiler) constant folding - A compiler optimisation technique where constant subexpressions are evaluated at compile time. This is usually only applied to built-in numerical and boolean operators whereas partial evaluation is more general in that expressions involving , dead code elimination In compiler theory, dead code elimination is a compiler optimization used to reduce program size by removing code which does not affect the program. Dead code includes code that can never be executed (unreachable code), and code that only affects dead variables , and constant operations.
