Anything is possible at this level; VIEW FROM THE DUGOUT Ian Hendon Barnet manager.IT'S important to have the right blend of youth and experience in this division. At the start of last season the oldest player in our squad was Neal Bishop Neal Bishop (born August 7 1981 in Stockton-on-Tees, England) is an English footballer, currently playing for Barnet. Career Early career Bishop began his footballing career with Middlesbrough, in their youth set-up. at 26 and it showed in our results early on. Then we brought in Paul Furlong Paul Furlong (born 1 October, 1968) is an English professional footballer. He currently plays for Luton Town after being released by Queens Park Rangers. A much-travelled striker, Furlong's career has included stints with Coventry City, Watford, Chelsea, Birmingham City and , Matt Lockwood and Gary Breen Gary Patrick Breen (born December 12, 1973 in Hendon, London), is an Irish footballer. He currently plays for Championship side Wolverhampton Wanderers. He has previously played for Maidstone United, Gillingham, Peterborough United, Birmingham City, Coventry City, West Ham , who organised the youngsters on the pitch and provided great leadership. We have to be realistic about this season - we've had three relegation battles since getting back into the league so the first priority has to be safety. Obviously, if we've got 50 points by Christmas, we'll have to reassess our objectives. What's happened at Notts County is unbelievable, although I bet their manager would prefer to have the millions Sven is being paid in his transfer budget. There's pressure on them now and they've got to perform and win matches, it's as simple as that. I spent most of my playing career in this division - I managed to get out of it three times - and morale and team spirit can take you a long way. It looks a very open section again this year. Rotherham should go well - they're big, strong boys and they don't let many goals in - and I expect Bury and Rochdale to be up there again. Northampton could be strong, Cheltenham will be well organised under Martin Allen Martin James Allen (born August 18, 1965 in Reading, England) is a former footballer and manager. Playing career In his playing career he was known as 'Mad Dog', he played for QPR, signing professional in 1983 and spending six years at Loftus Road and played in the 1986 , and Crewe's front four will be dangerous at this level. But going into the season, I'm quite happy with the quality and spirit in our squad. It would be silly to make predictions - I'm not going to come out and say we'll win the league - but anything is possible. CAPTION(S): Ian Hendon |
