Anyone else pestered? VIEWPOINTS.

WITH reference to David Lloyd (Viewpoints, August 3), regarding charity letters emanating from PO Box numbers in Ross on Wye, I received a letter some time ago from PO Box 107, Ross on Wye.

It told me that I had won a prize in a competition of which I had no knowledge.

I ignored it but it was followed by a string of reminders which became increasingly insistent, as though the correspondents were chasing a bad debt.

Although I didn't reply, I retained some of the correspondence because of its hectoring tone.

It occurred to me that I might one day hear of other people harassed by this agency.

It would be interesting to know whether there are many others who have been pestered from box numbers in Ross and, in particular, what has been the experience of those who have responded to the letters.

I doubt that it will have been good.
