The latest literary offering from E. Lynn Harris is chock full of tawdry tales of deception, deceit, bed-hopping and scandalous revelations by the characters readers love to hate, namely Ms. Yancey Harrington Braxton and smooth operator and part-time gigolo gig·o·lo

In exchange for rent, she "has to perform a few duties for Malik every once in a while" As in the past, Yancey is determined to be on top in showbiz and she doesn't care how many casting couches she has to work in order to get fame and fortune. Basil meets his match in scandalous behavior with Bartholomew Dunbar. "Black Bart" is the sort of guy who hops a flight to Atlanta when his old college ex-lover, Brandon, tracks him down and asks to see him. Brandon, has since gotten married and has two kids, but while the wife and kids are away, the ex wants to play. After a few engaging days of relentless, heated, headboard-slammin'-make-your-toes-curl sex, Brandon disses and dumps Bart. But it's ultimately Bart who has the last word.

on the outrageous meter, Basil meanwhile floats from one meaningless and trashy affair to another with men, women, and whoever else blows his way. Basil and Bart eventually hook up, what begins as a sex romp becomes war of words and egos. Determined not to be "treated like a piece of bookstore trade," one of these drama boys almost turns a semi-innocent trip to the sauna into in a trip to the pokey for one of them. Guess who?

Any Way the Wind Blows, is Harris' seventh book in about 10 years and certainly ranks as one of this reviewer's favorites. (Invisible Life still ranks at the top of my list). This author has a marked passion and knack for writing stories that contemporary African American African American Multiculture A person having origins in any of the black racial groups of Africa. See Race.  readers crave. Undaunted by occasionally caustic comments from those who perceive his candid discussion of sexuality and the African American community as taboo, Harris continues to deliver.
