The software, called PowerTab, was selected by Apple Computer as one of 1997's hottest new applications for the Macintosh.

Intended for virtually any business, PowerTab has a built-in Expert Helper system that interviews the user to create a custom survey. Once the survey has been distributed and completed, the user is guided through the data entry process. Initial data tabulation tab·u·late

PowerTab tabulation includes the ability to easily group answers by key customer groups and highlight the mathematically significant answers. This is intended to guide the non-research professional to quicker understanding of the results.

PowerTab also provides a HTML HTML

 and associated PERL script, which allows the user to use their Web site to post their survey and collect data from it. Additional PowerTab capabilities include the automatic tabulation of FileMaker databases.

PowerTab v0.9 is being offered for sale at $90. A free demonstration version of PowerTab v0.9 is available for downloading downloading - download  from the Web site http://www.powerknowledge.com . PowerTab v1.0 will have a Survey Editor that allows the user to modify existing PowerTab surveys or to create new surveys.

PowerTab v1.0 is expected to be priced at $199 and is due for release in late March 1997. Users will be able to upgrade free to PowerTab v1.0 if they purchase PowerTab v0.9 by Jan. 31, 1997.
