Antrix Signs Contract with AAP for Satellite Services in India.

SINGAPORE--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 29, 2001

Americom Asia-Pacific (AAP AAP - Association of American Publishers ) announced today that Antrix Corporation Antrix Corporation (Antrix Corporation Limited) is the marketing arm of Indian Space Research Organization, the Indian Space Research Organisation.

The name "Antrix" is an anglicised version of the Sanskrit/Hindi word "Antarriksh", meaning "Space".
 Limited has signed a multi-year service agreement to lease as many as three transponders on the GE-1A satellite. The satellite will supplement INSAT's domestic satellite fleet and will be able to provide Ku-band service to VSAT (Very Small Aperture satellite Terminal) A small earth station for satellite transmission that handles up to 56 Kbits/sec of digital transmission. VSATs that handle the T1 data rate (up to 1.544 Mbits/sec) are called "TSATs.  operators throughout India.

Antrix has already been providing network monitoring support services support services Psychology Non-health care-related ancillary services–eg, transportation, financial aid, support groups, homemaker services, respite services, and other services  to GE-1A on a long-term basis."

GE-1A, a powerful Ku-band satellite, which is located at 108.2 degrees E.L., provides service via three beams to greater China, south Asia including India, and northeast Asia and the Philippines. The spacecraft features 28 active 36 MHz (MegaHertZ) One million cycles per second. It is used to measure the transmission speed of electronic devices, including channels, buses and the computer's internal clock. A one-megahertz clock (1 MHz) means some number of bits (16, 32, 64, etc.  Ku-band transponders with 120 watt SSPAs, eight of which are focused over India. The satellite is an A2100AX spacecraft, manufactured by Lockheed Martin Commercial Space Systems. The satellite will deliver Internet applications, VSAT, data and telecommunications services, cable and direct-to-home broadcast programming. The satellite was successfully launched on October 2, 2000 and became operational the following month
