Antiviral gel clears safety test.


An intravaginal gel that kills HIV HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus), either of two closely related retroviruses that invade T-helper lymphocytes and are responsible for AIDS. There are two types of HIV: HIV-1 and HIV-2. HIV-1 is responsible for the vast majority of AIDS in the United States.  in the laboratory appeared safe when used in a test in women. Of 36 women who used the gel once a day for 2 weeks, only 2 reported serious irritation irritation /ir·ri·ta·tion/ (ir?i-ta´shun)
