Antioxidant for rubber use.

Vanox ZMTI is an antioxidant that is said to work particularly well

in combination with other antioxidants. Its synergistic effect can be demonstrated in various rubber formulations based on polymer systems such as EPDM, natural rubber, polychloroprene, NBR and SBR. Vanox ZMTI is said to provide excellent protection against heat and oxygen aging, especially when combined with amine or phenolic type antioxidants. It can also be beneficial where improved flex-fatigue resistance is required. Use of these synergistic systems can be demonstrated in both mineral and carbon black filled compounds, cured with conventional sulfur, low sulfur, sulfur-donor or peroxide systems. Peroxide cures are said to provide vulcanizates with maximum thermal and oxidative stability, as well as superior resistance to compression set, according to the company. Most antioxidants are said to reduce peroxide efficiency, resulting in loss of physical properties. Vanox ZMTI is said to be a unique antioxidant that is fully compatible with peroxide cures and shows best results in combination with amine antioxidants such as Agerite Superflex Solid G. This synergistic combination of antioxidants is also said to offer the best thermal stability and maximum flex fatigue resistance in conventional sulfur cure systems. Agerite Stalite S is said to be the preferred antioxidant for polychloroprene. In combination with Vanox ZMTI, in either a peroxide or ethylene thiourea (ETU) cure system, the synergistic effect is said to be evident in the increased state of cure and improved heat resistance. This combination is also said to show improvement in flex fatigue.
