Antioxidant additives.

Two additions have been made to the company's range of antioxidants, including Alkanox P24 and Lowinox MD24. Alkanox P24 is a solid organo-phosphite antioxidant which is said to offer the user superior color and melt flow protection at low addition levels. Is also is said to contribute to long-term heat aging stability in high end polyolefin applications (PP, HDPE, LDPE and LLDPE), styrenics, PVC, polyesters, elastomers and adhesives. Alkanox P24 is said to be an excellent process stabilizer and shows synergy with other primary and secondary antioxidants, as well as with selected UV stabilizers. Lowinox MD24 is a metal deactivator that additionally acts as a hindered phenolic antioxidant. These features equip the polymer with outstanding protection against the auto-oxidation process that can occur with the presence of transition metal ions such as catalyst residue, according to the company. Lowinox MD24 is said to be highly effective in a variety of polymers, including polyolefins and elastomers used in applications such as wire and cable insulation. Its ideal melting range allows for ease of incorporation into these and other polymer systems without dispersion problems, according to the company. (Great Lakes Chemical)
