A colorless crystalline compound used as a stabilizer for plastics and in the manufacture of dyes, explosives, pesticides, and pharmaceuticals.

 antidegradant said to offer excellent heat and oxidation resistance to most natural and synthetic polymers. Its low volatility is said to be better than competitive antioxidants. Use of 405 with the company's 58 or 60 antioxidants is said to produce a synergism synergism /syn·er·gism/ (sin´er-jizm) synergy.
