AntiVirals Inc. names vice president of regulatory affairs and clinical development.


PORTLAND, Ore.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 4, 1997--AntiVirals Inc., a privately held biotechnology company engaged in the fields of gene-inactivating technology and drug delivery, Tuesday announced the appointment of Dr. Frederick C. Pearson to the new position of vice president of regulatory affairs Regulatory Affairs (RA), also called Government Affairs, is a profession within regulated industries, such as pharmaceuticals, medical devices, energy, and banking. Regulatory Affairs professionals usually have responsibility for the following general areas:

Pearson brings to AntiVirals more than 20 years experience in pharmaceutical and clinical research. He most recently served as director of biotechnology at the Colorado Advanced Technology Institute.

His prior positions include vice president and general manager for Greenwich Pharmaceuticals Inc., vice president of product development for Virus Research Institute, vice president of scientific affairs for Cell Technology Inc. and eight years in management positions at Baxter. The company has also developed a new drug-delivery technology which may be useful with many FDA-approved drugs, as well as with antisense compounds.
