Anti-reversion coagent for sulfur-cured systems.


Reversion reversion: see atavism. , said to be a common problem with sulfur-cured elastomers, causes the deterioration of physical properties over time, resulting in poor service life. The commercial availability of SR534, a coagent designed to prevent reversion in sulfur-cured elastomers, was announced at the Rubber Mini Expo 2004. SR534 is a multifunctional acrylate Noun 1. acrylate - a salt or ester of propenoic acid
propenoate

salt - a compound formed by replacing hydrogen in an acid by a metal (or a radical that acts like a metal)
 ester designed to minimize reversion during overcure, and in products where heat build-up may occur during use, such as tires, radiator hoses and engine mounts. SR534 is available in both liquid and dispersion form. Initial test results of this coagent are said to be promising. According to according to

 data, SR534 is said to successfully prevent reversion in a wide range of elastomers, including natural rubber, SBR SBR - Spectral Band Replication , polybutadiene and polyisoprene. Two other specialty coagents, SR519 and SR522, were also introduced.
