Anti-Santorum, not pro-Casey.

He opposes marriage equality. He has never pledged basic support for equal treatment of gays and lesbians in the military. He's a devout Catholic. And LGBT LGBT Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender  voters have lined up to volunteer for Bob Casey The name Bob Casey may refer to

out of the U.S. Senate with his tail between his legs? Absolutely. Would we lift a single finger to campaign for Bob Casey? Absolutely not.

We realize that we don't speak for every gay and lesbian voter, and we recognize and appreciate the work queer activists in Pennsylvania have done to educate voters about the "pro-family" Santorum and his distinctly antifamily agenda. But we can no longer offer our support--in particular, our time and our financial contributions--to candidates who think it's acceptable to treat gay and lesbian Americans as second-class citizens. And we believe that the more LGBT voters who loudly take that stand, the more likely we will be to find candidates who will take action for the cause of equality rather than meekly endorsing partial equality around election time.

We do not advocate that Pennsylvanians stay home on Election Day to protest the choices on the ballot. The American political system at times forces us to hold our noses and cast votes for candidates who oppose full equality (hello, Senator Kerry) to try to prevent the election of those who prioritize the destruction of our families. We all must vote. No exceptions. But what we do in the voting booth is private and necessary. What we do with our time and money is public and has to send the message we want the world to hear: We cannot support any candidate who does not support full equality. We will no longer be satisfied with table scraps and lip service.

It ought to be really easy to woo LGBT voters--and dollars. Simply support equal rights. Anything less is un-American.
