Anthony O. Sclama, MD, MSB, is vice president of medical affairs at Franklin Square Hospital Center in Baltimore, Md. Franklin Square is a 335-bed acute care community teaching hospital with residencies in internal medicine, family practice and obstetrics-gynecology, and currently has the third largest number of emergency department visits and the fourth largest number of admissions in the state of Maryland. It is a member of MedStar Health, a seven-hospital health care system in Baltimore and Washington, D.C. and the largest such system in that region. Franklin Square was named a 2004 Solucient Top 100 Hospital and is a recipient of the 2004 Medicare Excellence Award. A practicing urologist for the last 21 years and an active ACPE member since 1998, Sclama received a Masters of Science in Business, Health Care Management from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in 1999. Prior to assuming his current position, he served as urology section chief in the department of surgery and surgical service line assistant medical director at Franklin Square. As VPMA, he will oversee all clinical chairs, the department of quality, risk and safety, graduate and continuing medical education, the medical staff office and medical staff relations.
