Anthem names new N.H. medical director.Dr. Richard Lafleur has been named the new medical director of Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in New Hampshire. Board-certified in internal medicine, Lafleur received his medical degree from the University of Vermont in Burlington and completed his internal medicine residency at the University of Rochester Associated Hospital Program in Rochester, N.Y. He is a member of the American College of Physician Executives and the New Hampshire Medical Society. In addition to serving as Anthem's associate medical director since 1997, Lafleur practices internal medicine at Southern New Hampshire Internal Medicine in Derry, a group practice he help found in 1989. "As Dr. Lafleur has been serving as the associate medical director for the plan for past 11 years, he already has a wonderful working relationship with the state's physician community," said Razia Hashmi, regional vice president and medical director for Anthem Northeast. "He brings extensive and varied experience in the health insurance environment to this new role and will be a wonderful addition and asset to our New Hampshire team." LaFleur replaces Elizabeth Malko, who has taken another position at Anthem as regional vice president and medical director of state-sponsored business. |
