The approval will enable Anthem to expand its Metro Access Plan (MAP) PPO coverage to businesses based in New Jersey and will increase utilization of the New Jersey providers in its Anthem Health Network. The Network was launched in 1996 to provide employees of New York-based firms coverage throughout the greater New York metropolitan area New York–Northern New Jersey–Long Island is the most populous metropolitan area in the United States and the third most populous in the world, after Tokyo and Mexico City. , which includes northern New Jersey and southern Connecticut.
