Antenova Announces Availability of GPS RADIONOVA(R) Antenna for Embedded GPS Applications in Handheld and Portable Devices.

CAMBRIDGE, England -- Antenova's Patented Balanced Antenna Technology Provides Higher Efficiency and Reliable Performance in a Significantly Reduced Size Antenna

Antenova Ltd, the integrated antenna solutions company, announced the availability of GPS RADIONOVA(R) balanced antenna for embedded Inserted into. See embedded system.  GPS applications for portable devices such as smartphones, personal navigation devices A Personal Navigation Device (PND) is a portable electronic product which combines a positioning capability (such as GPS) and navigation functions.

The earliest PND were hand-held GPS units (circa mid 1980s) which were capable of displaying the user's location on an

Introduced in 2001, the first SDIO card on the market was a Bluetooth card. Wi-Fi and ZigBee cards followed. See SD Card. , etc. Antenova's patented balanced antenna technology enables GPS RADIONOVA to outperform other much larger, bulkier and more costly antennas.

"GPS RADIONOVA is ideally suited for embedded GPS applications in small form factors enabling reliable high performance navigation systems in portable and handheld devices," stated Greg McCray, CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board.  of Antenova. "Antenova's balanced antenna technology enables GPS RADIONOVA to operate independent of component placement and the ground plane size, thus making it a lower risk and simpler solution for OEMs to design into their own hardware module solutions. Further benefits include reduction in development cost, faster time to market and enhanced user experience in terms of consistent and reliable location information."

The GPS RADIONOVA in its small 20.1x9x1.6mm package is more reliable, cost effective and higher performing than larger, bulkier and more costly patch antennas. Because of its small size and balanced antenna technology, GPS RADIONOVA only requires a PCB PCB: see polychlorinated biphenyl.

with a groundplane as small as 20x30 mm for efficient operation. In handheld devices such as smartphones or PDA's where space is a premium, GPS RADIONOVA also outperforms small chip antennas on cost and performance, which make critical demand on PCB layout and groundplane size. In addition, further efficiencies and cost reduction can be achieved when integrated with GPS radio IC's.

McCray added, "GPS RADIONOVA has the highest efficiency in the industry today for handheld & portable device applications. Antenova's RADIONOVA radio antenna modules and balanced antennas are highly resistant to de-tuning, so the same RADIONOVA balanced antenna can be used across multiple product designs. We have developed RADIONOVA to give our customers maximum design flexibility with the cost benefits of a standard component. GPS RADIONOVA will allow Antenova to address the growing GPS market which is predicted to reach 322 million GPS enabled mobile handset, PDA's and laptop computers by 2009."

About Antenova

Antenova is a leading developer and supplier of integrated antenna solutions. Antenova's High Dielectric dielectric (dī'ĭlĕk`trĭk), material that does not conduct electricity readily, i.e., an insulator (see insulation). A good dielectric should also have other properties: It must resist breakdown under high voltages; it should not  Antenna (HDA (Head Disk Assembly) The mechanical components of a disk drive (minus the electronics), which include the actuators, access arms, read/write heads and platters.
