Antenna Products, Inc. Acquires the Wireless Antenna Systems Product Line of Hirschmann Electronics, Inc.

The Antenna Products, Inc. acquisition of the wireless antenna systems business unit of Hirschmann Electronics, Inc. further enhances its strategy to focus on high growth commercial market opportunities. The acquisition involves the purchase of assets, tooling, design and production rights and patent rights pertaining to Hirschmann's wireless antenna systems product lines. Key technical and marketing personnel from the Hirschmann business unit will also join Phazar Antenna Corp., the commercial product division of Antenna Products, Inc.

The wireless antenna systems business from Hirschmann provides a complete line of fixed and mobile antennas for ISM See ISM band. , wireless Internet, wireless LAN A local area network that transmits over the air typically in the 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz unlicensed frequency band. It does not require line of sight between sender and receiver. Wireless base stations (access points) are wired to an Ethernet network and transmit a radio frequency over an area , wireless local loop, fixed GPS, MMDS (Multichannel Multipoint Distribution Service or Microwave Multipoint Distribution Service) A digital wireless transmission system that works in the 2.2-2.4 GHz range.  (fixed wireless) and embedded Bluetooth market applications. The Hirschmann product lines complement Phazar's existing product lines of cellular, PCS (1) (Personal Communications Services) Refers to wireless services that emerged after the U.S. government auctioned commercial licenses in 1994 and 1995. This radio spectrum in the 1. , paging, ISM and AMR (1) (Adaptive Multi-Rate) A variable rate speech codec selected by the 3GPP for the 3G evolution of the GSM cellphone system (WCDMA). The combined product line offers significant growth opportunities in these high growth markets.
