Antelope Valley Green Energy Day.
What: Antelope Valley Green Energy Day
When: November 1, 2004, 10:00 am
Where: Palmdale Water Reclamation Plant
39300 30th Street East
Palmdale, CA
Why: The Sanitation Districts of Los Angeles County
(Sanitation Districts) have declared November 1 to
be "Antelope Valley Green Energy Day" with the
start-up of the "first" high efficiency fuel cell
in California and installation of the "first"
microturbine in the western United States, both to
run on gas generated from a wastewater treatment
plant.
So What: With the cost of fuel on the rise, the Sanitation
Districts is reducing its dependence on the power
grid and at the same time reducing the amount of
greenhouse gases released into the atmosphere. The
new fuel cell and microturbine will allow the
Sanitation Districts to reduce power costs and pass
the saving on to the ratepayers.
