Working from guidelines set by the Collaborative for High Performance Schools (CHPS CHPS Collaborative for High Performance Schools CHPS Certified in Healthcare Privacy and Security CHPS Center for Health Policy Studies (healthcare consulting firm with offices in New York, Maryland, and Illinois) CHPS Combat Hybrid Power System ), Anshen+Allen Los Angeles, the school, community members and a multidisciplinary design team established a goal of creating sustainable, energy-efficient buildings that could serve as teaching tools, while optimizing comfort and controlling project costs. The design adopted measures in every category of CHPS and as a result achieved an overall score of 45 out of a possible 54 points. The site design implements retentive re·ten·tive adj. 1. Waterless urinals were installed to comply with water reduction targets. Material requirements were met through the specifying of products with renewable or recycled content.
