With all the books on the market about Ansel Adams' life and photos, one might wonder at the need for yet another: what makes Karen Hass and Rebecca Senf's Ansel Adams different from all the rest? For one, document and unpublished letters form the foundation for the text, which covers his influence on 20th century American photography and his collaborative efforts. Adams was primarily a commercial photographer who sold his work to make a living: his various personas Personas or personae are fictitious characters that are created to represent the different user types within a targeted demographic that might use a site or product.  and different projects and objectives receive wider coverage here than in other photo collections.
