Another innovation from two long-time Florida retailers; Spec's, Burdines pool resources for 'fun' back-to-school campaign.


MIAMI--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 20, 1996--For nearly 50 years, Spec's has been making retail history in Florida.

Burdines' track record for innovation stretches back to 1898.

The Burdines-Spec's Music cross-marketing includes several elements:

listen to their favorite music between purchases or while

a friend is trying on clothes. In addition, Spec's will

offer a free CD sampler sampler, sample piece of needlework or embroidery, of silk, cotton, or worsted, for the preservation of some pattern or as an example of the ability of a child or a beginner. In museums and private collections there are samplers dating from as early as 1643.  available with purchase of featured

CDs, which are available in the music retailer's stores.

-- "Thursday Night Live" Concerts -- Select Burdines locations

statewide will host in-store guest appearances by national

and local artists Thursday evenings at 7 p.m. Scheduled

artists include Suzy Creamcheese, The Goods, Black Janet,

Mahogany and the Juan Torres Trio.
