Another good deed by industry's young men and women.

Young Men's/Women's Real Estate Association (YM/WREA) organized another successful day of working with Habitat for Humanity Habitat for Humanity, nonprofit ecumenical Christian organization that enables low-income people to own affordable, livable housing. Headquartered in Americus, Ga., it was founded in 1976 by businessman Millard Fuller and his wife.  in New York City New York City: see New York, city.

in this fourth consecutive year of serving Habitat.

Twenty YM/WREA members volunteered at a job site at 703 East 156th Street in the Mott Haven section of the South Bronx to rehabilitate a five-story building that had been abandoned since the 1970's. When finished, it will provide eight new homes to local area families.

The YM/WREA members worked alongside some of the eventual residents of the building as well as with Habitat's dedicated professionals. Of the eight new units, two will have three bedrooms.

The remainder of the units will have one bedroom. Each new housing unit built will have a large living room, full kitchen, full bath, appliances and laundry facilities.

The construction process incorporates energy-efficient building methods and environmentally friendly building products, such as insulation made from recycled blue jeans.

Each home will be in compliance with EnergyStar[R] standards as part of the Habitat-NYC Green Building Program. Since a major component of YM/WREA's activities is supporting the community, it was especially meaningful to be able to help in providing much needed affordable housing to local families.

Many local real estate and related companies generously contributed to the fundraising campaign including:

ABS Partners Real Estate, Bernstein Real Estate, Brause Realty, Broad Street Development, Cohen cohen
