Cruise ships This is a list of cruise ships, both those in service and those that have since ceased to operate. Both cruise ships and cruiseferries are included in this list. (Ocean liners are not included on this list, see List of ocean liners.  have become communities of a kind, and some of them are more than just floating hotels. The World of ResidenSea, for example, launched in March 2002, is a luxury ship that's a resort community as well as a permanent residence for those who can afford the multi-million dollar price tag. The ship offers several restaurants, a gym and spa, two heated swimming pools, sailboats, water-skiing, wind surfing, ocean kayaking, and a golf course and casino. The World includes 110 apartment condos for up to 285 residents and 88 rental guest suites for apartment owners' guests.
