Another crown for Norton.

Norton Squash Club have been crowned regional club of the year 2006.

The much sought-after award was decided by the Durham and Cleveland Squash Racquets squash racquets or squash, game played on a four-walled court, 16 ft (4.88 m) high by 18 1-2 ft (5.64 m) wide by 32 ft (9.75 m) long. The back wall, shorter than the front wall, usually measures 9 ft (2.74 m).  Association and presented to the worthy winners at Teesside Sports Complex in Norton.

Club members were not content with picking up just one award and netted several.

They were also handed the England Squash Bronze Club Charter and Sport England Sport England (formerly the English Sports Council) is the governing body responsible for advising, investing in and promoting community sport in England. Its ambition is to get two million people more active in sport by 2012.  Club Mark accreditations for meeting high standards in the playing programme, child protection, sports equity and ethics and club management.

In the Whitfields' Building Services Squash Leagues, several Norton players won the player of the year for their division.

Laura Hall won the ladies' division two, while the men's division one winner was Mark Hockborn.

George Woodhouse won the men's division four and Ian Loughran won division six.

The men's division seven award was picked up by Dave Geldart.

 League Cup in the final, beating league champions Chester-le-Street. They were captained by Laura Hall and featured mum and daughter Helen and Shawnee Hall, Laura Setterfield and Frances Whittingham.

 by the adults as the Under-15 team were also winners.

Shawnee Hall, Danny Hockborn, Chris Hall and Mark Setterfield all combined to show the wealth of young talent at the club.

Division four winners were Chris McKenna, Ian Loughran, John Mullender, Mark Conway, Paul Cartwright, George Woodhouse and Norman Turnbull, while the division six winning team consisted of Mark Conway, Danny Hockborn, Chris McKenna, Ian Loughran and Andy Waite.

Chris Lavender, Danny Hockborn, Dave Geldart, Alan Bushnell, Laura Setterfield, Ian Fawcett and Mark Hockborn were division seven team winners.

Norton Squash Club has now won the Club of the Year five times, in 1999, 2000, 2003, 2004 and 2006.

* Club membership for the 2006/07 season, is now open, and includes free membership for June, July and August.
