Another National Town Meeting on Demand Response to be Convened.

) is pleased to announce that it will hold another National Town Meeting on Demand Response. This new event, which follows the widely acclaimed first National Town Meeting held earlier this year, will be held in Washington DC on Tuesday, January 24th and is being Co-Sponsored by a number of government agencies and organizations.

The National Town Meeting II will occur on the day preceding the Demand Response Technical Conference that the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) is the United States federal agency with jurisdiction over electricity sales, wholesale electric rates, hydroelectric licensing, natural gas pricing, and oil pipeline rates.  (FERC FERC Federal Energy Regulatory Commission

) will be conducting in Washington on Wednesday, January 25th. As a result, those attending the Town Meeting have the opportunity for two days of information and discussion on demand response.

Commissioner Nora Brownell of FERC will be the keynote speaker for the National Town Meeting II and other federal and state policy makers are expected to also address participants. In addition, the event will also once again feature a series of "roundtable" type sessions, with each one focusing on a different demand response topic and with each one involving a different set of experts and stakeholders. All participants will have an opportunity to join in and offer their thoughts as well in each of these sessions.

The agenda for the National Town Meeting II will be announced shortly. Topics and issue to be addressed will include:

--The Energy Policy Act of 2005 - What is it doing for demand response? What will it do?

--The Top Ten criticisms of demand response - reality, myths or urban legends?

--How can wholesale and retail markets be linked?

--What is the role of demand response in resource planning and adequacy?

--How can the value of demand response be evaluated and quantified?

--What are the lessons learned from research and programs?

--What do customers want when it comes to demand response?
