Another Marvell First: Single-Ended Preamplifiers with Proprietary, Advanced Fast Writer Technology.

SUNNYVALE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 30, 1999--

New 81G4000 Product Family Offers High-Performance Solutions for

Desktop Drives

Marvell Semiconductor, Inc., a leading developer of broadband mixed-signal processing technology, today introduced the first member of its 81G4000 family of 2, 4 and 8 channel programmable read/write preamplifiers for use with MR and GMR (Giant Magnetoresistance) See magnetoresistance.  recording heads.

These second-generation preamplifiers provide leading-edge (7200 RPM) desktop disk drive manufacturers with the fastest desktop solution available today.

"Marvell's 81G4000 family of preamplifier Preamplifier

A voltage amplifier suitable for operation with a low-level input signal. It is intended to be connected to another amplifier with a higher input level.
products incorporates our second generation, proprietary Fast Writer(TM) technology, greatly reducing 'undershoot' and 'overshoot' during the write process," said Dr. Sehat Sutardja Sehat Sutardja, co-founder of Marvell Technology Group, has served as President, Chairman of the Board, and Chief Executive Officer since its inception in 1995. In addition, he has served as President, Chief Executive Officer and a Director of Marvell Semiconductor, Inc. , Marvell's President and Chief Executive Officer. "These preamplifiers write at very high data rates and demonstrate our continued commitment to develop leading-edge preamplifiers for the disk drive market."

This debut marks the latest development in Marvell's ongoing commitment to provide complementary preamplifier and read channel integrated circuit integrated circuit (IC), electronic circuit built on a semiconductor substrate, usually one of single-crystal silicon. The circuit, often called a chip, is packaged in a hermetically sealed case or a nonhermetic plastic capsule, with leads extending from it for  (IC) solutions, allowing customers to achieve the highest levels of performance and information storage capacity.
