Another Dude can get in the money this time.

Provided he settles better than last time, Another Dude can recover recent Carlisle losses in the Bank Of Scotland Handicap Hurdle at Kelso tonight.

Howard Johnson's seven-year-old took a keen hold at the Cumbria venue 10 days ago and paid the penalty. He had pulled himself to the front by the fourth flight and, after being headed at the second last, weakened on the run-in to finish third to Ebinzayd.

He was beaten 15 lengths and a 7lb pull with his conqueror is not enough on the book to the turn the tables. However, he could have the race run to suit him and is likely to get a long enough lead for him to reserve his energy until the business end.

I also believe Kelso will suit him better than the demanding track at Carlisle and the presence of Lucky Duck should also help his cause.

Lucky Duck was suited by racing right-handed when scoring on the same card and ran out a clear-cut winner.

He likes to force the pace and was more impressive than he had been at Kelso when opening his account. He is also back in handicap company and has plenty on his plate under his penalty.

Quarterstaff was returning from a break when collared close home by Robbo at Carlisle where the pair where five lengths clear of previous course winner Red Rampage.

Left clear at the second last when Pittsburgh Phil blundered and unseated his rider, Quarterstaff looked sure to succeed until Robbo decided to have a going day and cut him down in the dying strides.

Although the handicapper has put him up 4lb for his neck defeat, the 10-year-old can gain compensation in the gg.com Handicap Chase. He looks a more reliable proposition than either Hallyards Gael or Florries Son. Dual bumper winner Word Gets Around makes his jumping bow in the R S Design Maiden Hurdle and has shown the right attitude to make his mark over timber.

Luthello is an interesting rival. He hasn't been seen since November when he made his racecourse debut in an Ayr bumper and gave the impression that he needed the outing after he had faded out of contention. The market is likely to prove the best guide to his chance.

Bernardon, formerly with Martin Pipe, ran well behind Paddy The Piper at Kelso last month and now tries his hand over fences in the Laing & Cruickshank Novices' Chase. On hurdle form, he should have the measure of Don Valentino.

Plutocrat stayed on for second without ever threatening the enterprisingly-ridden Zoltano on the Flat at Musselburgh earlier this month. He reverts to jumping in the Keg Lounge Handicap Hurdle and gets the nod over Minivet and Divet Hill.

The Bovis Homes Sagaro Stakes has attracted twice as many runners as last year when Alcazar beat Savannah Bay by a neck only to lose it in the stewards' room in controversial circumstances. Later, on appeal, the original result was reinstated.

Savannah Bay is among the 14 runners this time but I prefer the claims of Millenary who lost a prize at Saint-Cloud after narrowly beating Loxias, and later gained compensation when landing a Newmarket event for the second successive year at the expense of Bandari.

* CARLISLE'S Flat meeting next Tuesday has been transferred to Warwick because the course needs time to recover following a heavy jumps season.

Racecourse manager John Baker said: "Our Flat track is shared with the hurdles track.

"We've had almost 400 runners at our last four jumps meetings in early March and April, each time racing on at least good to soft ground.

"We have to put the safety of the horse first and the course is just not going to be ready in time.

"The track has taken a hell of a beating, but we've got a month to our next meeting on May 24. That's plenty of time, so we'll be fine."
