Annual sales of overhead projectors will exceed 500,000 units by the year 2000; In spite of new technologies, the overhead projector will remain the workhorse presentation format for most communications professionals, asserts PLUS Corporation of America.

ALLENDALE, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 1, 1995--Due largely to their relative low cost, ease of use, and user flexibility, the overhead projector will continue to serve communications professionals as the workhorse work·horse

PLUS Corporation of America Vice President and General Manager Fred Feuerhake, annual sales of overhead projectors will grow to 500,000 units by the year 2000 -- up from sales of 357,000 units in 1994(a).

"While new technologies will continue to impact the presentation market, some quite significantly, we believe that the use of overhead projectors will continue to grow by about 30% over the next five years," Feuerhake said today. "In 1993, the industry recorded sales of 325,000 overhead projectors of all types. In 1994, unit sales unit sales

increased to 357,000, and, by the year 2000, we believe the figure will hit 500,000 units."

According to Feuerhake, the healthy future of the overhead projector format is what convinced PLUS Corporation to invest in the development of its new PLUS Automatic Transparency Feeder feeder

abbreviation for self-feeders. Used in feeding groups of animals at intervals of several days. Feed has to be dry and comminuted so that it will run down the spouts from the hopper into the troughs.
DF-20, the world's first product of its kind that fits directly on top of any brand of light transmissive overhead projector. The PLUS DF-20 brings true slide-show conveniences to the overhead format, allowing users to load and feed up to 30 sheets (arranged horizontally, vertically, or mixed) using an infrared remote control See IR remote control. . The PLUS DF-20 allows users to leave the overhead projector, moving around the room at will. The PLUS DF-20 carries a suggested retail price of $299.00 and is available at major presentation products and office superstores This is a list of superstores by country. Multi-national

Feuerhake today stressed that new technologies will slowly capture a larger share of the presentation market, "but they will not become a major presence until their cost of purchase, ease of use, and user flexibility meets the needs of people on a daily basis. That's the beauty of the overhead projector. No other presentation system comes close to matching the cost efficiencies and ease of use it delivers. In fact, last year over one billion transparencies were created!"

Feuerhake believes that innovations like the PLUS Automatic Transparency Feeder DF-20 will only further enhance the appeal of the overhead projector. "The DF-20 eliminates the single biggest hassle associated with overheads since they were first introduced -- the invisible chain that bound presenters to the side of the overhead! With the DF-20, presenters can move around the room, automatically changing transparencies a page at a time or a line at a time with an infrared remote control. We believe that is a serious, low cost innovation that will actually expand sales of light transmissive overhead projectors."

The PLUS Automatic Transparency Feeder DF-20 only works with light transmissive models -- which account for 95% of all overhead projectors sold every year. In fact, Feuerhake says that the installed base of light transmissive overhead projectors now exceeds 3.5-million units. "That's a lot of projectors that could be quickly, easily, and cost efficiently equipped with the DF-20 feeder."
