) software featuring a new design option called Link Calc. This option enables users to automatically calculate communication system link budgets based on their selected design parameters and products. Once the required fade margin (the depth of fade, expressed in decibels, that a microwave link can tolerate while still maintaining acceptable circuit quality) is achieved, Link Calc users can, within seconds, generate a fully itemized bill of materials. The AMSP automatically checks system components for compatibility.

The Link Calc feature enables the user to select components from Andrew Corporation's full line of microwave products, including ValuLine(R) antennas, HELIAX(R) waveguide waveguide, device that controls the propagation of an electromagnetic wave so that the wave is forced to follow a path defined by the physical structure of the guide.  and coaxial transmission line, and DryLine(R) pressurization Pressurization generally refers to the application of pressure in a given situation or environment; and more specifically refers to the process by which atmospheric pressure is maintained in an isolated or semi-isolated atmospheric environment (for instance, in an aircraft, or  equipment.

Other benefits of the AMSP with Link Calc include a direct link to the Andrew website at www.andrew.com for the most current information about the company, its products, and services. It also provides instant access to: radiation pattern envelopes, electrical specifications, and mechanical specifications.

The Andrew Microwave Systems Planner with Link Calc is part of Andrew Corporation's Powertools(TM) suite of telecommunications system design software.
