Announcing The TTC 2230: Tester Unites Physical Layer and Services Testing.

GERMANTOWN, Md.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 22, 1998--

Expert 2M Instrument Offers WAN Transmission Analysis and

Troubleshooting In A Single Unit

TTC Tuesday announced the next generation of field testing with the TTC 2230 communications analyzer.

This is a rugged and easy-to-use instrument that offers one- touch physical layer testing and signaling analysis in a single lightweight, handheld platform. Ideally suited to the field technician dispatched to the customer premises, the TTC 2230's superior transmission-test capability helps get the job done right the first time.

The TTC 2230 gives field technicians the information they need to efficiently and accurately provision and install service. With ten modes of operation and summary statistics for BERT (Bit Error Rate Test) An analysis of network transmission efficiency that computes the percentage of bits received in error from the total number sent. , voice, CAS and PRI PRI: see Institutional Revolutionary party.

(Primary Rate Interface) An ISDN service that provides 23 64 Kbps B (Bearer) channels and one 64 Kbps D (Data) channel (23B+D), which is equivalent to the 24 channels of a T1 line.

, technicians gain insight into protocol-based problems without having to carry or operate a protocol analyzer.

Touch screen troubleshooting made possible by the TTC 2230 empowers the field technician with enhanced, software-assisted problem resolution without the complexity and overhead of a high-end analyzer.

"In introducing the TTC 2230, we offer 2M service providers investment protection as well as second-generation functionality," said Doug Smith, product line manager, TTC. "Based on the TTC 2000 Test Pad platform, the TTC 2230 sets a new standard for flexibility and future growth potential."

With call statistics and user-selected error event triggers, the TTC 2230 enables field technicians to reduce the number of service escalations, sectionalize sec·tion·al·ize

The TTC 2230 accomplishes a variety of tests and functions required when provisioning new service and maintaining or troubleshooting existing lines.

TTC understands field testing needs, offering more than 20 years of test equipment-design experience. The TTC 2230's mechanical enclosure is protected by a rubber overmold to absorb the impact of unexpected falls.

Also TTC has engineered a custom mounting to house the TTC 2230's VGA LCD and touch screen digitiser to protect against unavoidable impacts and mechanical twist. Every instrument is durability-tested to withstand heat, cold and vibrations. TTC guarantees the performance of the TTC 2230 with an industry-leading three-year warranty.

Available immediately, the TTC 2230 communications analyzer and options are priced from US$8,000 to $12,000.

TTC, a Dynatech company (OTC-BB: DYNA), is a global leader in the design, manufacture and marketing of test products, test systems, software and support services that enable communications providers and users to more efficiently install and maintain successful networks.

ATM acronyms.

Indiana acronyms.
; BERT - bit error rate testing; CAS - channel associated signaling channel associated signaling - in-band signalling ; ISDN - integrated services digital network Integrated services digital network (ISDN)

A generic term referring to the integration of communications services transported over digital facilities such as wire pairs, coaxial cables, optical fibers, microwave radio, and satellites.
; LCD - liquid crystal display liquid crystal display (LCD)

Optoelectronic device used in displays for watches, calculators, notebook computers, and other electronic devices. Current passed through specific portions of the liquid crystal solution causes the crystals to align, blocking the passage of light.
; PRI - primary rate interface; SDH - synchronous digital hierarchy (communications, standard) Synchronous Digital Hierarchy - (SDH) An international digital telecommunications network hierarchy which standardises transmission around the bit rate of 51.84 megabits per second, which is also called STS-1. ; SONET - synchronous optical network (networking) Synchronous Optical NETwork - (SONET) A broadband networking standard based on point-to-point optical fibre networks. SONET will provide a high-bandwidth "pipe" to support ATM-based services. ; VGA - variable graphics array.
