Announcing Low-Cost Fiber Optic Conversion for ATM, FDDI, Token Ring, Fast Ethernet, SONET, Ethernet and others.IRVINE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 22, 1995--IMC Networks is introducing a new series of protocol-independent fiber optic converters. Modular FiberConverters are designed to convert 1300nm single-mode fiber See singlemode fiber. to 850nm or 1300nm multi-mode fiber See multimode fiber. optics. FiberConverters support run-length limited data streams at speeds up to 165 Mbps. Conversion is done by installing two interchangeable Single- to Multi-Mode (S2MM) modules in slots in the FiberConverter base unit. The compact base units are available in three versions: FiberConverter/1 features slots for 1 conversion (1 each S2MM module set) and is table-top or, optionally, wall-mountable. FiberConverter/2 features slots for 2 conversions (2 each S2MM module sets) and is table-top or, optionally, wall-mountable. FiberConverter/4 features slots for 4 conversions (4 S2MM module sets) and is 19" rack-mountable or is table-top or, optionally, wall-mountable. S2MM modules come with STII-type connectors and are supplied in sets of two (2). The S2MM/850 module converts 1300nm single-mode fiber to 850nm multi-mode fiber. The S2MM/1300 module converts 1300nm single-mode fiber to 1300nm multi-mode fiber. Each FiberConverter base unit is supplied with an internal, 115/230VAC (Volts Alternating Current) See volt and AC. , wide-area input, UL/CSA/VDE certified power supply and, upon request, is shipped with the appropriate country power cord. For installations where an AC power source is not available, FiberConverters can be supplied, on a special order basis, with a -48VDC VDC Volts Direct Current VDC Venture Development Corporation VDC Vehicle Dynamic Control VDC Village Development Committee (Nepal) VDC Virtual Data Center VdC Verband der Cigarettenindustrie power supply.
