This year, GASF is dedicating this fun-filled, cultural showcase to celebrating Ghana's 50th Independence Anniversary through the theme of "Championing African Excellence."

Ghana's independence was the first on the sub-Saharan African continent and spurred other independence movements on the continent as well as the civil rights movements within the United States United States, officially United States of America, republic (2005 est. pop. 295,734,000), 3,539,227 sq mi (9,166,598 sq km), North America. The United States is the world's third largest country in population and the fourth largest country in area.  and among the Diaspora. This gala event will be an entertaining and rich cultural event featuring traditional and modern Ghanaian music and dance, a parade of Chiefs and Queens, a Ghanaian fashion show, historical perspectives and exquisite Ghanaian cuisine!

In keeping with the community service mission of GASF, a portion of the proceeds will go towards education efforts in Ghana.
