Announcement on Glass Break Detector Patent Litigation Settlement.TUALATIN, Ore.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 22, 1999-- Sentrol, an SLC (Subscriber Loop Carrier) Lucent's designation for its digital loop carrier (DLC) products. See digital loop carrier. See also 386SLC. Technologies company, has agreed with C&K Systems, Inc. and C&K Components, Inc. to settle Sentrol's patent infringement claims against the C&K companies. In pleadings filed in 1998 in federal court in Portland, Oregon, Sentrol charged the C&K companies with infringement of Sentrol's patent on Dual Channel Glass Break Detectors (U.S. Patent No. 5,192,931). C&K responded to the suit by filing a request asking the United States Parent and Trademark Office ("PTO PTO abbr. 1. The PTO reexamined the patent and ultimately confirmed the patentability of all ten claims and ruled that five new claims sought by Sentrol were patentable. Shortly after the parties received the PTO's Notice of Intent to Issue Reexamination Certificate, the parties reached an agreement to settle the lawsuit. The settlement calls for the dismissal of Sentrol's infringement claims as well as C&K's contentions challenging the validity and enforceability of the patent.
