Magistrates could also order the dog to be destroyed.

The princess and her husband, 47, can elect to have the charges heard at crown court, but this was understood to be unlikely.

At a hearing on October 9, a district judge ordered them to appear personally in court.

Anne was today on the court list under the name Anne Elizabeth Alice Laurence.
