George as Vice President of External Affairs and Communications, effective November 3, 2008. Ms. George was selected after a nine-month search and will be a part of the executive management team reporting to Mr. van Welie. In addition to working directly with regulatory commissions and other government entities, Ms. George will be responsible for communicating with news media and the general public. She will also oversee the ISO's interaction with the newly formed New England States Committee on Electricity as well as other organizations, including the New England Conference of Public Utilities Commissioners (NECPUC NECPUC New England Conference of Public Utility Commissioners ) and the New England Governors' Conference. Ms. George served as a CT DPUC commissioner for five years, presiding over administrative proceedings related to rates, mergers and acquisitions, land sales, and customer service protections. During her tenure at the CT DPUC, she also served as President of NECPUC, the Electricity Committee Chair of the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners, and a board member of the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI, or ReGGIe) is a regional initiative by states in the Northeastern United States region to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The RGGI is designing a cap and trade program for emissions from power plants. . Before the CT DPUC, Ms. George served as General Counsel in Connecticut's Office of the Governor and a legislative attorney for the state's Department of Children and Families.
