She said: "Gordon Brown, I want an apology for the debt burden you are passing on to my generation."

Her appearance drew comparisons with Mr Hague, who shot to fame when he spoke at the 1977 Tory conference, aged 16.

Annabel, whose political hero is Margaret Thatcher, said she felt "very nervous" and was "too busy concentrating on not falling off the podium" to notice the delegates' rapturous reaction.

It emerged last night that Annabel comes from a well-connected Conservative family.

Sources said she was the daughter of former right-wing Tory MP David Shaw, and she attended an expensive private school.

THE Tories were branded bloodsuckers yesterday for refusing to give the National Blood Service a stand at their conference. Labour let the donation group have space for free at their gathering last week.
