J Nelson opened in 2002, presenting an extraordinary collection of both antique and contemporary textiles, all representing the depth and tradition of classical weaving and archival design. Michael Kirkland, Design Director for the firm, pursued a partnership with Mrs. Getty after learning about her furniture collection while visiting the Victoria & Albert Museum.

With the advent of their partnership, Mr. Kirkland feels that "... Mrs. Getty's museum-quality reproductions reflect an obvious lifetime of access to the great collections of decorative arts decorative arts, term referring to a variety of applied visual arts, both two- and three-dimensional, including textiles, metalwork, ceramics, books, and woodwork, as well as to certain aspects of architecture (see ornament), public buildings, and private houses (see  the world over, with her own personal collection of antiques as the inspiration for Ann Getty House." Ann Getty, in New York this week to participate in the Kips Bay Decorator Show house, looks forward to a long relationship with such up and coming members of the design industry. "While I treasure the beauty of my Collection, I am also a pragmatic businesswoman. These enthusiastic entrepreneurs have already placed three of my limited edition Venus Chairs. Their interest in my line and their commitment to their discerning clientele make them a perfect partner for my business. I look forward to working with John and Michael."
