services for Anixter, Inc., a value-added provider of integrated communications systems and services, with annual sales totaling $2 billion.

Fritz's information systems, global infrastructure, compatible management philosophy, and industry leadership played significant roles in Anixter's selection of a partner to handle estimated air freight volumes of over one million kilos per year.

Fritz's international heavyweight cargo forwarding and cargo tracking capabilities provide increased service levels at competitive prices for Anixter, as well as total accountability of shipment status across the entire spectrum of the supply chain. This is a major consolidation for Anixter, who, prior to partnering with Fritz, contracted the services of a number of forwarders to support the global distribution of its $275 million inventory of networking and structured cabling Structured Cabling is defined as building or campus telecommunications cabling infrastructure that consists of a number of standardized smaller elements (hence structured) called subsystems.  products.

Headquartered in Skokie, IL, Anixter operates 165 facilities around the globe, and supplies its customers with voice, video, data and electrical applications products. One of Anixter's rapidly expanding markets is Latin America Latin America, the Spanish-speaking, Portuguese-speaking, and French-speaking countries (except Canada) of North America, South America, Central America, and the West Indies. ; Fritz's recent merger with Intertrans Corp., which maintained strong operations in this vital region, further strengthens Fritz's ability to comprehensively meet all of Anixter's transportation needs.

"Fritz was the unanimous choice of our global transportation committee, which included representatives from Canada, the U.S., Europe and the Far East," commented Mike Heaton Mike Heaton (born 18 September 1967) is the drummer for the English rock band Embrace and is from Heckmondwike.

He is nicknamed 'Besty' after the original drummer of The Beatles, Pete Best.
, Vice President, Transportation & Customs for Anixter. "The improvement in operations offered by Fritz means we can provide better service to our customers worldwide, and with streamlined operations and increased customer satisfaction. This partnership isn't just a transportation agreement but a true partner to help us enter new markets."

Prior to implementing Fritz's service in June, Terry Gavin, Fritz's Director of Implementation, visited Anixter locations in the U.S., the Far East and Europe to gain a better understanding of Anixter's corporate culture and to develop a strategic plan to match the company's aggressive global marketing strategy. The location visits also helped Fritz to tailor its operations to produce maximum efficiency for Anixter. Fritz has also assigned On-Site Coordinator Ed Yasumoto to Anixter's corporate headquarters to ensure that the transition causes no perceptible per·cep·ti·ble
