Business Editors/High-Tech Writers

TORONTO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 23, 2003

A Canadian technology company plays an important role in Canada's national cattle tracking system. Anitech's DT-500 Data Collection System (www.anitech.com/dt500) is already installed in five beef and eleven pork slaughter plants across Canada Across Canada was an afternoon program that formerly aired on The Weather Network. . The carcass data collected at the slaughter plant typically includes carcass ID, weight, grade and health information. In Canada, some of this data is passed to the Canadian Cattle Identification Agency to facilitate compliance with a national cattle-tracking program.

Anitech has been providing data collection systems to slaughter plants since 1984. The DT-500 Data Collection System is a proven and reliable second-generation system used by sixteen plants. As carcasses enter the slaughter plant the carcass ID number is entered into the Anitech system and the individual carcass is then tracked by Anitech's software system. Carcass tracking is often supplemented by bar code tags generated by the DT-500 System and attached to each carcass, or trolley identification. Qualitative carcass data is entered into DT-500 Terminals placed throughout the slaughter plant and the system creates individual carcass data records that are accessible in real time by plant management. The Company is currently looking at opportunities for exporting its tracking technology outside of Canada to the United States United States, officially United States of America, republic (2005 est. pop. 295,734,000), 3,539,227 sq mi (9,166,598 sq km), North America.
