Animal abuse and youth violence. (Bulletin Reports).


A resurgence of interest in the relation between cruelty to animals cruelty to animals n. the crime of inflicting physical pain, suffering or death on an animal, usually a tame one, beyond necessity for normal discipline. It can include neglect that is so monstrous (withholding food and water) that the animal has suffered, died or , or animal abuse, and serious violent behavior, especially among young offenders, has occurred in the past 20 years. The Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention The Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (or OJJDP) is an office of the United States Department of Justice and a component of the Office of Justice Programs.  (OJJDP OJJDP Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (federal agency) ) presents Animal Abuse and Youth Violence, a report on the psychiatric, psychological, and criminological research linking animal abuse to juvenile- and adult perpetrated violence. It addresses the challenge of defining animal abuse and examines the difficulty of deriving accurate incidence and prevalence data for this behavior.
