Industry Veteran Adds Even More Depth to Anila's Base of

Management, Recruiting and Technology Expertise

Anila(TM) Fund, which provides early stage funding to optical and broadband communications companies, today announced a strategic relationship with Open Systems Consultants, an executive recruiting firm. Gary Schlageter, founder and manager of Open Systems Consultants, will join Anila as a Venture Partner.

Open Systems Consultants is devoted to finding top management and engineering talent for the data/telecommunications marketplace. Anila's portfolio companies will benefit from this relationship by securing top tier executives for their management teams.

Previously, Schlageter was founder and vice president of marketing at RouterWare, a data communications protocol company that developed products for the OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) The rebranding of equipment and selling it. The term initially referred to the company that made the products (the "original" manufacturer), but eventually became widely used to refer to the organization that buys the products and  market, and was ultimately purchased by Wind River Systems.

As Director of Strategic Development, Schlageter helped Advanced Computer Communications (ACC See adaptive cruise control. ) to become a pioneer in the development of Internet (ARPANET (Advanced Research Projects Agency NETwork) The research network funded by the U.S. Advanced Research Projects Agency (ARPA). The software was developed by Bolt, Beranek and Newman (BBN), and Honeywell 516 minicomputers were the first hardware used as ) interfacing technologies. During his tenure with ACC, he was instrumental in moving the company from being a government contractor to becoming a leading competitor in the commercial sector. As a result of this growth, ACC was purchased by Ericsson.

Prior to ACC, Schlageter was vice president of engineering at Laser Optics Inc., a developer of through-the-air-communications systems for high-speed video and data communications. He was also vice president of engineering and marketing at E2 Thermodot, a non-contact (infrared based) temperature sensor and industrial control company.
